Therapy can be many things –joyful, difficult, humorous, awe-inspiring, and it can involve dealing withsome of the deepest, most painful parts of ourselves, the parts that that keephidden for fear of what we might find. Therapy can also be a time to learn andgrow in ways we may have never anticipated. After working for the past ten years in mental health andreceiving my license as a clinical psychologist in 2023, I founded my ownpractice, New Pathways Psychotherapy. At New Pathways Psychotherapy, my goal isto help each and every one of my patients discover and reconnect with theircore values and gain the skills and confidence to overcome the barriers intheir way. I use an approach that is customized to the needs of each patient,with techniques from psychodynamic therapy, existential therapy, attachmenttheory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I believe that therapy issomething that happens with, and through you, not to you, so I aim to includemy patients in the treatment planning process to ensure that their treatment issuitable and appropriate to their needs. My ideal patient is someone who is curious about themself andis motivated to make changes in their life. My areas of clinical focus includethe treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as helping peoplestruggling with negative self-talk, self-doubt, and life transitions. I am proudto work with individuals who identify as queer, questioning, trans, non-binary,or ace, and continuously attend training to ensure that I am the best ally Ican be to my patients, friends, and family alike. I am also exceedingly geeky and spend my free time watchingthe likes of the newest superhero or Star Wars show, reading through the ACourt of Thorns and Roses series, and rereading the Hitchhiker’s Guide series.
