About Nilgun Tunali
Hi, I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) dedicated to creating a warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported. I work with adults (18+) navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions. My decision to become a therapist was rooted in a deep curiosity about the human experience and a strong belief in our capacity for growth, healing, and connection. I feel honoured to walk alongside people as they explore their inner worlds and move toward greater self-understanding and emotional well-being.I offer therapy sessions in both English and Turkish, and I strive to provide a culturally sensitive, inclusive, and affirming space for people from diverse backgrounds. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, I’m here to support you in making meaningful changes and building a life that feels more aligned with who you are.
What to expect in your first session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. It’s completely normal to feel nervous, uncertain, or even hopeful all at once. The first session is designed to help you feel comfortable, informed, and supported. Our initial meeting is primarily a conversation. We’ll begin by reviewing informed consent, confidentiality, and privacy so you understand your rights and what to expect from our work together. You’ll have space to ask any questions about the process. From there, I’ll invite you to share what’s bringing you to therapy at this time. You can start wherever feels most important. We may explore: What challenges you’re currently facing Relevant personal, relational, or mental health history Your strengths and supports What you hope might feel different in your life There is no pressure to share everything all at once. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. By the end of the session, we’ll clarify your goals and discuss possible next steps. Some clients leave the first session feeling relief simply from being heard; others appreciate having a clearer sense of direction. Both are completely valid experiences. Above all, the first session is about beginning to build a trusting, respectful therapeutic relationship — one grounded in safety, curiosity, and care.
